We have our own plant nursery where we cultivate and grow a variety of aquatic marginal plants which we use in many of our schemes. These are grown in 3L pots and therefore provide immediate impact on planting. We do sell our sturdy wards so contact us for further details. Aquascience Ltd produces chalk stream marginal plants at our watercress beds, for populating habitat creation schemes. All plants are derived from local progeny stock (River Itchen and Test).
Plants are supplied in 3 litre pots and are mature plants with a large root mass. Experience has demonstrated that these plants are robust, establish quickly and ensure that newly created habitats are protected from erosion. As specialists in understanding plant physiology we are well qualified to identify the requirements for a sustainable matrix of marginal plants to ensure the success of all our bio-engineering techniques.
Our species list includes grasses, reeds, sedges and broadleaved plants. Planting schemes are designed to mimic natural systems and provide diversity, refuge, food as well as being visually attractive.
